After viewing paintings done by "Art is what I Teach"

I was inspired to try a similiar idea with printmaking.
Students designed drawings and transferred them to styrofoam. We then printed with watercolors. To finish students went back and outlined organic shapes. This was a fun assignment for 6th graders!
These are GREAT! I love the 4th one down -- like a spooky windswept night! I've never tried printing with watercolors -- will have to give it a try. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I find students who have printed with ink have a harder time. They want the styrofoam to be completely covered and it is difficult to do that. Very good for nonobjective and organic shapes!
ReplyDeleteDoes it make a difference if it is liquid watercolor or not?
ReplyDeleteI think these are the coolest things I've seen in a while! Must do soon!
Love this idea. Did you have students brush on the water color?
ReplyDeleteI just used regular watercolors but liquid would work if the colors were not to concentrated that you could not see the pen. Students did brush on watercolor but they do have to work quick before it dries. Check out under sixth grade, watercolor weavings from last year. They were also done using the same technique.
ReplyDeleteThese are absoloutely gorgeous! I've been looking for an interesting way to do monoprints, I think I'll take your watercolor and outling ideas but apply them to different subjects. Thanks!
