These fossils were completed by second grade students. This is the second year we have done this assignment since it was introduced to me from another great art teacher. First students were given a ball of clay to roll into a slab. Students then used sea shells, plastic dinosaurs, and stamps to create impressions within the clay. Once the clay dried it was fired in the kiln and then painted with acrylic paints.

Third grade students have been learning about Van Gogh and his art work. Some of his most recognizable paintings are his versions of the "Starry Night." Students were then guided along as they created their own interpretations using oil pastels.

To begin this lesson students viewed and discussed a power point on artist, Wassily Kandinsky. We also spent some time on color and students completed these using only the primary colors. You will see that they became very creativity to make their circles interesting.

Students looked at a variety of fish and the shapes that can be used to create them. This assignment was completed on tin foil and texture was added with fruit bags to create the scales. To finish we placed them onto a textured paper that students completed.
